Job Overview

The Optimised Group is looking for an Energy Trading & Risk Intern, to join our full service, energy solutions business. They will be supporting the Procurement and Trading team in Energy Market Reporting, Fundamental and Technical Analysis, Market Risk, Data Analysis and Trading. This internship would be suitable for a newly qualified graduate who has a background in Mathematics, Economics, or another numerical/analytical focused degree.

Section Head - Procurement & Trading

Principle Accountabilities

  • Developing fundamental and technical market views to understand prompt and curve market risk

  • Assisting in the development of, and using internal tools to monitor market developments and deliver information to both internal and external stakeholders

  • Preparing daily, weekly, and monthly market reporting

  • Analysing client portfolios and performance reporting

  • Assisting the team in trading decisions and portfolio hedging

Person Specification

  • You will be proficient in MS Office packages, specifically Excel

  • You will possess strong analytical skills, with a passion for problem solving

  • You will have an excellent ability to communicate your views and findings

  • You will have excellent organisational skills and be capable of working with large amounts of data

  • You will show a commitment and willingness to learn

  • It is essential that you work well under pressure and make quick and rational decisions

Experience & Qualifications

Experience

  • No experience in the energy industry is required, however experience in statistical or economical based modules is desired.

Qualifications

  • 2:1 degree or higher in a Mathematics, Economics, or other numerical/analytical focused degree
